Most every Dell item has a part number. This number is located on a sticker with a format that looks like CN-08N907-48644-36C-A276. In this example, the part number is 8N907. Each Dell part number is 5 characters in length. The second set of numbers is the part number, starting with the ‘8’.

Some Sony items have part numbers. Many numbers located on these parts are not their actual number. Most either look like 1-791-453-12 or A8068706A. Another identifying number is IFX-xxx or SWX-xxx or something to this effect. These numbers are all imprinted on the part.

Almost all of the older (pre 2003) hp laptops do not have part numbers on the parts. There are very little numbers to identify them with the exception of the inverters which carry a number such as PK070011210. This PK... number is VERY important when referencing the correct inverter for your laptop. The new laptops (2003+) carry the same number format as Compaq, ie. 348805-001.
